First, I don't think I've ever commented before, so I want to say I really like this blog. I can't tell you how many times I've learned about something happening in GR just by subscribing to this blog.

Hockey means .... everything to 3 out of 4 members of this family! My husband is Canadian and grew up playing hockey. He passed the love of hockey to our two sons, who spend most of their free time playing some form of hockey in the house. Our youngest has never been to a hockey game, so winning Griffins tickets would be a perfect family outing for us.

My family loves hockey. My husband played hockey since he was 4 and he has started teaching our 3 1/2 year old son how to skate. We go to open skate every Sunday in Kentwood and there is always a game before so we go early and watch and my son loves it! He loves watching hockey on TV and he says he wants to be a Red Wing when he grows up!

My son & I love watching hockey! Each and every day he wakes up he's always asking the score of the teams who played the night before. We'd love the chance to see the Griffins LIVE & try to cheer them on to a VICTORY!!! Thanks.

Griffins Hockey has always been a great family outing for us. Both boys have gone through a stage where they love to pretend they are hockey players in my kitchen on the linoleum! My husband grew up in Seattle and become a Red Wings fan when he moved to Michigan.

We are a big hockey family, too.
My oldest plays on a travel team, my 4yo is wrapping up a year of skating lessons, getting ready to play next year, and even my 18month old loves to play hockey in the basement with his mini stick and puck!

We're big Griffins fans and would love the opportunity for free tickets!

Thank you very much for this newsletter...I love reading about what kind of family fun activities are available!
Hockey is the #1 loved sport in our family. We have been to a few Red Wings and lots of Griffins Games...we were even at the Griffins the day my son was due. Our 4 yr old daughter and 3 yr old son, love watching online hockey fights with their daddy too! We have not been to a game yet this year, so this is an awesome opportunity! Thanks again.

Our family has never been hockey fans at all. Watching it on TV was boring. Then two weeks ago we were given Griffin tickets by a friend ours. It is one of the most exciting sports to watch in person. Our family is now hooked.

I have 3 girls (ages 11, 9, and 7) who love the action and speed of the game of hockey. A few years back, my oldest wanted to be a Griffin hockey player when she grew up and I think still wants to be a hockey player on her high school team.

What fun!!!

hockey is my husband's favorite thing ever (besides his wife and two daughters, of course)! he played his entire life and still plays men's league each sunday night. our oldest daughter (2yr) gets so excited to help him hang up and air out his equipment after each game saying, "pee-eww dad, stinky!" and once it's all hanging, she has a little song she sings as she points to each piece of equipment.
we would love to take her to the griffins game!

Hockey means the world to my 7 year old who was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder right after birth. He does his best to try to play hockey in our driveway with his hockey stick and a chunk of ice. The stick is a little big, but he makes it work for him. He has never seem a live hockey game before. I am a single parent, so I do what I can to make things as fun as possible for him around here. We watch as much of it as we can on the tv and he cheers on the teams everytime. I don't think it even matters who is playing, he likes them all. It would be a chance of a lifetime if you chose us to be one of the families to go to this game and we would appreciate it a whole lot !!

My family LOVES to watch hockey. The constant action keeps my 2 1/2 and 1 year olds into the whole game! We saw 1 Griffins game live and the girls absolutely loved it. They didn't sit down thru the whole thing and didn't want to leave after the game, even though it was over 2 hours past bed time!!! We love how it's such a good family sport to watch together! Also, we like how at the games they make it a good family outing, all the giveaways and games they play! This would be a great treat for our family in these tough times :)

I also want to add how much I love this site! I am always looking for fun and cheap entertainment for the whole family! Thank You!!!

We would like to be introduced to this sport. We hear Grandpa talk about Hockey but we have not actually seen Hockey live. We are familiar with the Griffins and are proud that they represent our town but how awsome it would be to directly connect wth this sport!

The lights dim, the spot lights start swirling, the crowd is going wild.
This is the night, the night when family fun reaches it's height. Tonight the Moes family isn't sitting around watching T.V. The Moes girls aren't fighting over who's barbie is who's. Mother Moes didn't have to slave away in the kitchen, Father Moes doesn't have to unclog the drain in the tub. Oh no... tonight, the Moes family can sream and yell when Larrson blocks yet another goal, hoot and hollar when Janik scores a goal, eat hot dogs and breadsticks until they explode, and more importantly make memories together that will last a life time!!!

Well hockey is very fun to watch and also all of my family loves it! But spending time with my family is by far the best thing on earth! That time is pretty scarce lately. My husband worked for GM and of course that didnt work out. I am currently working 3 jobs and this would be an awesome opportunity for us all get together and enjoy the time spent together having fun watching the Griffins. Also going to watch the Griffins was one of my husband and my first few dates and the first and only time that I have ever seen them. We all loved watching them as a family. And the kids couldnt wait for the t-shirt launcher to come around and scream!

We've always enjoyed going to Griffins games, but what put it over the edge into crazy fanhood is when we took our almost-2 year old last April to a Griffins game. We had front row seats and he had the time of his life. It was the first time we really saw him enjoying himself with a HUGE smile on his face the whole night.

After this night, he talked about hockey just about everyday until we took him to another game last December and again, the excitement was barely containable for him.

I would love to take him again. He is now 2 1/2 and is always asking his Dad to watch hockey with him and asking me if I remember seeing the players on the ice.

Even thinking of these memories brings tears to my eyes.

WE would love to use the hockey tickets. My son loves hockey so much that he wears his hockey pajamas constantly sometimes refusing to take them off. He also has a Red Wings jacket and blanket which we made our selves. WE usually attend one hockey game a year and this year we will not be able to due to being unemployed and lack of money. It would mean the world to both of us if we could spend some quality time together while watching a hockey game as we do every year.

What hockey means to my dad, and I is it gives us something to do in the winter time instead of sitting around home at night, just watching the snow fall. It has become a tradition for him and I to go to at least one hockey game in Grand Rapids per season as well.

We are very big hockey fans and would love to go to the game next Sunday.

Griffins means tradition. Every year I take my son and daughter to a Hockey game for their birthday and we always stop at the Zone for a Griffin's birthday present, such as a hat or sweatshirt. We also go to the New Year's Eve game each year. Its something we all look forward to every year. In the summer, they always ask to go to a Griffins game at which point we start the countdowns to their 'birthday games'. Thank you Griffins for the great family memories and traditions!

Hi, My family just loves hockey, the biggest hockey nut is my 6 yr old daughter. She tells everyone she loves the Griffins. She is always asking if they won and if they do she says "YES" or pouts if they lose. This game would be awesome for her because she just can't get enough hockey. She wants to play someday but not with the bug boys just yet LOL..We went to the great skate 1st time she has ice skated and loved it and loved that the players talked to her and helped her. Thanks Griffins for all you do..

Hey, first thanks for doing this. Second, I wanted to post this just to share, not to win the tickets. I'm a season ticket holder and would prefer you give them to someone else since I already have tickets.

That said, I want to let everyone know that Griffins games are a great way to bring families together, regardless of the age of the children. I'm lucky enough to be able to call my dad one of my best friends. I'm a 35 year old man now, and the relationship I have with my father is incredible, and the Griffins games only strengthen that bond.

A few years back, I really started following the Griffins. I've been a Red Wings fan for a couple decades now. I started getting my dad to go to a couple games with me. He's always liked the game but didn't have a ton of knowledge.

We're now in our 3rd year as season ticket holders. Every Griffins game is a highlight of the week for me, and not just because of the great hockey, the fun crowd or all the other activities in the arena.

It's because Griffins hockey is something that my dad and I share together. It's our perfect excuse to go hang out with each other and just have fun. We love the game, we love the team, and for us, it's something that we both look forward to every game.

So, thank you, Griffins, for providing such an outstanding event 40 or more times a year where my dad and I can go cheer the boys on, watch some great hockey and continue to create fantastic family memories.

I have 2 grandsons, ages 8 and 15 that play hockey and have enjoyed watching the Griffins for a long time. They have been fortunate enough to get pucks at games and Evin McGrath was kind enough to give the youngest a stick at a game. What a thrill for a young guy! They learned their passion for the game from my 2 sons that played hockey in high school.

We've been fortunate to have use of a suite to celebrate my 60th birthday and had the whole family at the game to celebrate.

I'm very blessed to have 4 tickets for the 21st already, so please withdraw my name from consideration. I just wanted to share what the Griffins mean to my family. Go Griffins!

Hockey,Griffins Hockey in particular means so much to our family! We have two sons. Joey who is nine and Michael who is 7. Michael has severe autism and epilepsy and because of his disabilities we don't get out much as a family. Joey is in his third year of playing hockey for the Griffins Youth Foundation and he has completely fell head over heels in love with the game! Days in our home can be long and hard. Especially for a third grader but Joey knows no matter what is going on under our roof he gets to hit the ice rink every Thursday and Saturday! It has been a wonderful outlet for him as he deals with the stresses in our family. In March we are even throwing him a Griffins Birthday Party because he loves the team so much! We found out that he and his friends are going to get to sit on the bench while the team warms up and when I told him he responded excitedly "Do you think they sweated on that bench?" Yep,our Joey is quite the fan!!!

My then five year old told me in the winter of 2008 that he wanted to play hockey when he grew up. Not having been exposed to hockey as a child or an adult (I am a figure skater) I told him he needed to learn to skate before he could play hockey. A year of skating lessons followed by this winter of hockey with the Griffins Youth Foundation has produced a hockey obsessed six year old. We have been to a few games in the past years as a family and would love to go again. I am unsure if I should publicly admit this or not, but I have to Google hockey terms to keep up with my boys growing obsession with this sport. Hockey, Rosa Parks and Griffs ice house has given us a chance to grow together as a family and participate in wonderful community organizations.

My husband and 12-year-old daughter love to go to hockey games together. They enjoy the game... and all the hoopla that goes along with it at the Griffins games! I would love to give these tickets to them for a special outing and they would be able to take a few friends along as a special treat.

Hey this is an awesome blog! I just discovered it.

Anyway, here's my shot at the hockey tickets:
I grew up pretty much hating sports. But my mother occasionally gets free Griffins tickets from a client and passes them on to us. So my husband, daughter and I attend Griffins games on occasion. My 5 year old daughter loves the games (probably the events during the breaks more than the actual game, but she does appreciate the game as well.) My husband enjoys them too, and used to play on ponds as a kid and young adult.

And hockey has grown on me. I finally understand why people shout at TV screens. The Griffins haven't been doing too great the last few games I've been to. Quite a few players have moved on to the Red Wings, which is bittersweet. When the Griffins are down or miss a goal opportunity, I hear myself shouting encouragement and expressing frustration and can't believe that's MY voice! Trust me, I'm not the sports fan type.

I grew up in this city. I've always loved going downtown and I've spent my life cheering on Grand Rapids. This is something I believe I've passed on to my daughter. But if hockey wasn't something my daughter enjoyed, I'm sure I'd never have learned to enjoy it. It's amazing how having a child opens one's mind.
