Meijer Gardens is beautiful this time of year with the fluttering butterflies.

We are fortunate to be members of this great place, so I can take the kids there for just an hour at a time when it is not so busy.

I've learned that 3 pm on weekdays is a good time to go (except Tuesday when they are open late.)

We went last Wednesday before the official Butterflies are Blooming Exhibit opening and were blessed to have the whole place to ourselves (except for maybe 2 or 3 other people.)  There were a good number of butterflies at that time; I can't imagine how it will be now that the exhibit is officially opened.

Apart from the butterflies, we took a few minutes to greet the turtles in the basement and romp through the children's garden outside, even thought it was still under 40 degrees outside.

If you are at all interested in a Meijer Gardens membership, look into it.  We go more than enough to make up for the cost.  Plus, during the month of May you will get reciprocal membership privileges at the Grand Rapids Children's Museum.  (If you're looking for a great membership deal, the Children's Museum does reciprocal membership agreements with the zoo, Meijer Gardens, and some other museums in the GR area.)
